There are over 3000 post-doctoral workers in Cambridge, most of whom are not members of colleges. The post-doctoral lifestyle can sometimes bring with it a sense of isolation and pressure, but the University is working to develop its priorities for post-doctoral wellbeing.
PdOC is the society for post-docs within the University of Cambridge. It runs social gatherings, film nights and Formal Halls (dining), and publishes its own e-bulletin. It meets informally for lunch each Tuesday at the University Centre, Mill Lane, at 1 p.m.
PdOC is also supported by the Careers Service – which has produced an information sheet for those seeking college membership.
The Chaplain to University Staff is keen to support post-doctoral workers in any way possible.
