Great St Mary’s Women’s Breakfast Group
The Women’s Breakfast Group was set up a few years ago and it has proved to be very successful. The group meets once per month for breakfast on the second Saturday at 9.30am in Michaelhouse.
The aim is simply to get to know each other and to talk about matters pertaining to the group or events in the world, which are of current concern. After a simple breakfast together, at which there are lively discussions, we pray; bringing all our concerns to God. We finish with The Grace.
Once per year we usually have a Quiet Day. These can be anywhere and one example is where we went to Ferrar House at Little Gidding, which was led by The Revd Lynne Broughton. In December one of our number, Paula Corby, leads a time of quiet prayer based around a cross shaped with small candles. We also sing a carol, which all in all makes for a wonderful moment of calm during what can be a very busy month. Occasionally we have a meal together as Christ did at Emmaus, with the Sacraments being a part, led by a priest.
With its focus upon quiet Christian reflection and thoughtfulness about our daily lives, this group might be for you. Notices about events may be found on the Great St Mary’s pewslip whenever they occur from time to time, which may be downloaded from this site here.
Alternatively, you may enquire using the website’s contact form and we will respond in due course.
Great St Mary’s Men’s Breakfasts
On the third Saturday of each month, men from the church meet for a 9.00am Eucharist in the Hervey De Stanton chapel in Michaelhouse, so that we can worship and pray together. After the Eucharist, we have breakfast together in Michaelhouse to get to know each other better and to share in discussions and ideas. All men are welcome.
