The Cambridge Modern Orchestra, Johann Sebastian Bach Double Concerto for two Violins (soloists: Mifune Tsuji, Mateja Kaluza); Brian Cherney Illuminations (UK premiere) and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Serenade for Strings.

Saturday 9 June, 7.30pm

The Academy of Great St Mary’s Summer Concert our brilliant orchestra under the direction of Adam Pounds, perform Brahms’s masterful and uplifting first symphony, Stravinsky’s brilliant and playful Pulcinella suite, alongside motets by Bruckner and partsong by Brahms, performed by the combined choirs, directed by Sam Hayes.Tickets are available on the door, and in advance from the GSM shop.

The Charter Choir of Homerton College, directed by Daniel Trocmé-Latter 

Tickets: £5 (students and under-18s: £3)

The Charter Choir, the newest ensemble of its kind in Cambridge, was founded in 2009 in celebration of Homerton gaining its Royal Charter and obtaining College status within the University of Cambridge. It is today comprised of a small group of singers from the College, including eight choral scholars. The Choir sings Evensong at the Church of St John the Evangelist, Hills Road, on Tuesdays during term time.

In July, the Charter Choir will be travelling to Alsace, France for their first international tour. This concert will be a fundraising event for that tour. The Choir will perform a programme of music from the British Isles from the sixteenth to the twenty-first century, by composers including C. V. Stanford, William Harris, Edward Elgar, and Peter Maxwell Davies.
