The Orchestra of Great St Mary’s
Great St Mary’s resident orchestra, The Academy of Great St Mary’s, was founded in 2007 by conductor and composer Adam Pounds. It sets out to enhance the musical life of our two churches through its performances in concerts and services. It performs four major concerts per year, plus a number of smaller, chamber music, baroque or light music concerts. In addition, members of the orchestra are often heard accompanying the Choirs at services on Sundays and festivals. Players are mainly drawn from across the city and University, but some come from further afield, attracted by our lively and varied repertoire.
