The exhibition comprises entries from the photographic competition at the Department of Engineering, sponsored by Carl Zeiss. The images provide a stunning visual insight into the ways in which engineering makes a beautiful and vital contribution to our lives. As always – awe-inspiring.
Sunday 24th March – Sunday14th April ‘FERENGI! FERENGI!’ James Albon’s exhibition from time spent in Ethiopia.
In the summer of 2012 artist James Albon travelled to Ethiopia as ‘artist-in-residence’ for the Frankfurt Zoological Society in the Bale Mountains National Park. There followed two months of exploration and constant drawing which developed into bold hand-printed illustrations of a distant and diverse culture. In late 2012 the work was awarded the prestigious gwen Owen award from the Royal Society of Printmakers. This exhibition shows his complete folio of prints, accompanied by the original drawings – a compelling portrait of a rich and colourful nation, and an exploration of the reporting artist facing an alien context.
