Friends of Michaelhouse
The Friends give financial and moral support to the centre, and enjoy a programme of social events. They are entitled to discounts on all purchases in the café.
Since the reopening in 2002 the Friends have paid for the new piano, and for restoration and repair work. They have helped fund a Chaplain’s Assistant, and have contributed substantially to loan repayments. Concerts, theatrical performances and exhibitions have been made possible by the Friends. -
The Committee: Peter Hilken (Chair), Rosemary Watson (Secretary), Lindsay Stemp (Treasurer), Julia Fleming and Anne Lindley (Members).
If you would like to join our number and help Michaelhouse flourish contact Peter (01223 709769) or Rosemary (01223 319527).
Forthcoming events
Spring lunch: 25th March, 12.30pm, at 78 Chesterton Road. £12.
In November 2012 Michaelhouse will celebrate its 10th anniversary. The Friends are planning to support this – details will be posted in the New Year.
A committee is also at work preparing the programme for the 2nd Michaelhouse Festival, which is scheduled for May 2013. If you would like to know more, or be involved in some way, please contact Peter.
Recruiting new Friends
It is wonderful that so many people continue to support Michaelhouse through the Friends. It is a struggle for the Centre to cover running costs, and also make provision for repairs and replacements. The contributions made by the Friends have been crucial in ensuring the centre’s financial solvency, and its vigorous life. If we could increase our numbers the extra income accruing would be even more helpful. So please try to persuade people that the modest subscription really does enable this wonderful Cambridge institution to thrive. You will of course also mention that membership entitles you to discounts at the cafe.
With thanks and best wishes,
Peter Hilken.
