Welcome to Michaelhouse

COVID-19

We are sorry to announce that in the light of the Coronavirus situation and the government advice to avoid non-essential contact, we have closed the Michaelhouse Centre and Café as of 18th March 2020.

Most of the information on this website has been left as it was in March 2020 and we have not updated everything to take account of the new situation. We apologise if anything is confusing or unclear because of this and trust you will understand.

July 2020 update from the chair of the Trustees:

“I am sure you have all been wondering what has been going on at Michaelhouse during the lockdown, and what the future plans are. It has been a very difficult time as Bill Sewell closed the café in mid March and put his company into liquidation, making all his staff redundant. That left the trustees with a challenging situation, as the café provides the income both to maintain the internal fabric of St. Michael’s Church and to run the activities in the Michaelhouse Centre. We had many Zoom meetings and are very pleased that the PCC of Great St Mary’s has agreed to take on the responsibility of running the café, and also the Michaelhouse Centre.

You will all be aware of the uncertainties of trying to plan ahead for reopening the café safely whilst complying fully with all government restrictions and guidance, so we are unable to give you a precise date. We hope that the events and activities will be able to resume at some stage, but we understand that the PCC will have to handle that very carefully.

Thank you for all your support and understanding at this very challenging time. We all very much hope that Michaelhouse will continue to be a place you will be able to visit and enjoy at some stage in the future.”

All future bookings have now been cancelled and we are in the process of making full refunds.
