TARDIS lands at Great St Mary’s

The TARDIS in Senate House Hill, Cambridge.

Ordinarily, you shouldn’t notice it but we think the perception filter must have been turned off. That’s what I reckon anyway. With the Doctor nowhere to be seen people arrived at the church this Monday morning to find it parked firmly on the pavement between us and King’s College opposite.

It was making the vworp…vworp… noise all day too. Apparently he thinks leaving the brakes on is a sign of coolness rather than bad driving. Whatever…

The anachronistic box attracted a lot of attention as you might imagine. In the end it became clear that the TARDIS was actually there to promote the forthcoming ‘Crash of the Elysium’ production by Punchdrunk theatre company and BBC’s Dr Who team, which from 15 June to 8 July lands in Ipswich, as part of the London 2012 Festival. Tickets are on sale now, check out the New Wolsey Theatre’s website or London 2012 for more details.

Mind you, having a time machine to hand whenever you might need one could come in handy especially in the run-up to Easter or Christmas. At least that way you could find the time to get in the plethora of impossible deadlines that any big religious festival produces. What’s that? Some guy just came up to me and said that would involve going back on your own time-line, which is apparently a no-no. Just a thought…
